A China sourcing agent is your representative on the ground. You send a requirement; the agent finds factories that genuinely make it, verifies they are real, negotiates on your behalf, inspects the goods before they ship, and coordinates the freight and paperwork.
The distinction that matters is who the agent is paid by. A trading company buys from the factory and sells to you, so its profit grows when the factory price is hidden. An agent works on a stated fee against the order value, so it does not — which means you can be shown the factory price without anyone losing money by showing it.
